The Howard Hospital is an acute care facility located about one and half hours north east of Harare, Zimbabwe. The hospital is owned and operated by the Salvation Army. It was started early in the twentieth century as a shelter for homeless women.
Over the years the Howard has grown to include not only the hospital but also a nurses teaching centre, a high school, a primary school, a college of the University of Zimbabwe and a water treatment facility. Additionally there are living quarters for staff, volunteers and an area for families. A new hospital is currently under construction.
